There are full-time church employees who do the administrative work. They receive salaries just like the rest of us. But the spiritual leaders only receive assistance if needed and only to a moderate level.

The article is correct. Many of the general authorities were successful enough in their worldly pursuits that they don’t need a financial stipend when they are called to serve the Church full-time. The stipends for GAs come from the profit-making efforts of the Church and not from tithing money. The Church pays taxes on this profit. The Church does not make its account public, but it was recently revealed that President Henry B. Eyring, at the time first counselor to then prophet Thomas Monson, received about $118,000 in one recent year. Hardly grand.
