Mormon Beliefs: God the Father
September 24th, 2009 by terrie
Mormons teach that God is literally our loving Father in Heaven. Thomas S. Monson often reminds Mormons and others to trust God, because He is the
only source of truth and safety.
“May we remember that the wisdom of God ofttimes appears as foolishness to men; but the greatest lesson we can learn in mortality is that when God speaks and we obey, we will always be right.” (See Thomas S. Monson, “They Marked the Path to Follow,” Ensign, Oct 2007, 4–9.) Read the rest of this entry »

Thomas S. Monson is so holy and prophetic he knows about words that aren’t even English yet!
E.g. “oftimes”
Holy, holy, holy.

Dave, the word oftimes is found at least three times in the Bible:
Matthew 17:15
Mark 9:22
John 18:2
These are in the King James Version, which is the traditional version of the Bible used by many religions. The word came into being around 1300 I believe, and has been shortened over time to become “often.”
It’s not commonly used in modern popular fiction or American English, but it is used in British literature, hymns, and scripture, and I still sometimes see it used by English speakers from England. Wordsworth used it, for instance, in his poetry. President Monson is very well read and this often shows in his vocabulary.
